DISASTER RISK REDUCTION IN SWITZERLAND – STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT

The Technical Committee on Disaster Risk Management of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and the Peruvian Engineers Association (CIP) are organizing this important event to be held on April 25th, at 08:00 hrs. in Lima, 14:00 hrs. in London and 15:00 hrs. in Switzerland

The presentation will show the approach to natural risk management in Switzerland and the strategy that is applied. The focus will be on risk reduction against natural hazards with the application of the Swiss risk management matrix. Concrete examples will be presented for different processes and according to the phases indicated in the risk management matrix, including project-related phases.

OUR SPEAKERS

Mr. Federico Ferrario is a forest engineer (ETH Zurich) and a hydraulic engineer (EPFL). He is the Director of the engineering firm EcoEng SA and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He currently works for EcoEng SA as a project manager in the fields of natural hazards, hydrology and hydraulics, risk management, and environmental consulting. He is also a fire officer in the local fire brigade and a Swiss federal firefighting instructor with various specializations (FSSP, CSSP, IFA).
