The Committee on Disaster Risk Management of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and the Peruvian Engineers Association (CIP) are organizing this important event to be held on Tuesday 22 November 2022, at 10am Lima time, Peru.
As magnitude of natural hazards, climate change disasters and political conflicts increases, engineering needs are getting critical since damages in housing and infrastructure are significant. Dr. Kit Miyamoto will discuss his recent experience and current activities in Afghanistan and Ukraine. He is a global CEO of Miyamoto International and led numerous disaster response and recovery effort worldwide in past 20 years

|Dr. Yolanda Alberto has a PhD in Civil Engineering, interested in soil dynamics, risk and resilience of critical infrastructure networks. Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Chile, Researcher at the Centre for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN) and Director of the project «Risk of losses in drinking water networks» of the Advanced Centre for Water Technologies. D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Master in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and Civil Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.|
|Dr. Miguel Estrada is a Civil Engineer from the National University of Engineering (UNI), Master of Science and PhD. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo and Post-Doctorate at the University of Chiba, Japan. He has been Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Executive President of SENCICO, General Director of CISMID, member of the Board of Directors of SEDAPAL and FONAFE, as well as holding important positions at UNI-FIC. He teaches in the Master’s Degree in Transport and Disaster Risk Management at the Postgraduate School of UNI and in the undergraduate schools of Civil Engineering at UNI and Ricardo Palma University, Principal Researcher at CISMID. Researcher registered in RENACYT. President of the Peruvian Association of Former JICA Peru Scholarship Holders. Recipient of the Order of Engineering of the Peruvian Engineers Association.|
|Dr. Viviana Iris Novelli is a structural engineer with a Doctor Philosophy in Earthquake Engineering, awarded by the University College of London (UCL). She is a Lecturer in Civil engineering at Cardiff University and a disaster specialist, leading international projects focusing on earthquake modelling to assess building performance, and pre / post-earthquake assessment in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and South America. Her work focuses on developing pathways to mitigate the disaster risks driven by climate change through resilient and sustainable engineering strategies. She has also had a significant involvement in these topics via her AECOM industrial experience. She provides structural consultation to the World Bank, and she is also part of Management committee of EEFIT and members of the committee WFEO in the Capacity building team.|
